Political leaders in Papua New Guinea are looking at measures to get more women elected to Parliament.
In the latest election just one woman, Dame Carol Kidu, who has been a member for the previous two terms, got in.
This, despite awareness campaigns and a record number of female candidates.
Dame Carol says she will be working in what will be her last term to ensure more women are elected in 2012 and she says there is support from the present Prime Minister, Sir Michael Somare, for the setting aside of reserved seats.
"He and another leader of a political party we just chatting last night and they actually had a meeting last week where they have been working on a concept of reserved seats - whether it be the regional ones or another way, but it is clear that Sir Michael definitely wants to have something done before he finishes his politics. It is absolutely clear we have to do something pro-active."
