Launch of Solomons palm oil project delayed indefinitely

1:49 pm on 5 July 2007

Today's ceremony marking the launch of the multi-million dollar Auluta Palm Oil Project in Solomon Islands has been delayed indefinitely.

The launch has been held up because the Land Aquisition Project has yet to be completed.

The Auluta Palm Oil Project is the first major economic development project to be undertaken in Malaita since the country gained independence almost 30 years ago.

But the project can't go ahead until all land-related matters are finalised.

The project's manager David Fa'alimae says he hopes the ceremony will take place at the end of September.
