Samoa rugby high performance manager Peter Horne says World Cup preparations are coming along nicely.

The Samoa government has announced a further injection of 250,000 US dollars with a promise of more investment before kick off in France in late September.

Horne says preparation for the recently completed Pacific Nations Cup, where Samoa finished third, and one the off test against South Africa have been timely in rugby world cup year.

"South Africa is in our pool so it gives a good indicator of where we're at and what we need to improve on. It also gives us an idea of the style that South Africa's going to play and gives us a bit more of an insight of what's going to unravel with us playing Tonga, with them also being in our pool. And seeing South Africa playing England we can get an idea of where they're at."
