Mixed results for the two Pacific rugby union teams playing in Division B at the world championships in Ireland.

The Cook Islands were beaten by Russia 22-14, and will now face Chinese Taipei in a playoff for 11th spot.

A try each to Tahiri Elekana and Terua Tuisovivi both converted by Terry Toki wasn't enough to give the debutants Cook Islands a historic win.

In the later game Tonga came from 11-nil down at halftime to beat Zimbabwe 26-11. The Tongans who will face Uruguay in a play off for fifth spot, scored four unanswered tries to Mateo Malupo, Viliame Pola, Fransis Penatani, and Sione Kalamafeni, with Sione Toke kicking three conversions.
