New Zealand Governor-General makes visit to Niue

The New Zealand Governor-Generals first official overseas trip has ended with him thanking the people of Niue for their warm hospitality.

Anand Satyanand's two day trip included visiting a number of New Zealand funded projects.

Moera Tuilaepa-Taylor reports.

"The Governor-General's morning began yesterday with the flag raising ceremony in front of Niue's Fale Fono, and later he became the first Governor-General to address Niue's assembly. In his speech he highlighted the importance of culture, heritage and identity and he also thanked the Niue government for the opportunity to visit the tiny nation. Anand Satyannd also highlighted the special history and relationship that New Zealand and Niue shares. He also thanked the Niuean people for their generosity and their gifts. Anand Satyannd says he will visit Tokelau, Samoa and the Cook Islands later in the year. In Niue, I'm Moera Tuilaepa-Taylor."
