The King of Tonga says it will cost $200 million US dollars to reconstruct and redevelop its capital, Nuku'alofa.
King George Tupou the fifth made the announcement during the closing of the 2006 session of the Tonga Legislative Assembly yesterday.
Last week Nuku'alofa's central business district was burnt to the ground in protest of pro-democracy reforms being delayed.
The Matangi Tonga online reports the King promised that the business district in Nuku'alofa will be rebuilt, and that reconstruction plans would announced shortly.
