PIRA continue training ahead of Wales encounter

11:28 am on 7 November 2006

The former All Black Shane Howarth and back coach for the Pacific Islanders Rugby Alliance side says they have a tough battle ahead of them this weekend.

The PIRA rugby union side which is made up of players from Fiji, Tonga and Samoa have three tests on their European tour one each against Wales on Saturday followed by Scotland and Ireland.

Howarth, who played for Wales for five years and was sacked because of eligibility issues, says while it's good to be back, he has other matters on his mind.

"It's really good being back catching up with people, but I think the mission for us is just to making sure we get the team right, and be competitive on Saturday, now we've had four good training sessions with them and a few more to go, but the boys seem to be enjoying it and getting into it."

The PIRA team will be named on Thursday.
