The premier of Niue,Young Vivian, says sending two police to join the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands fulfills a commitment he made when RAMSI began three years ago.

RAMSI's special co-ordinator, James Batley, says Solomon Islanders appreciate the generosity from a country with very limited resources.

The two represent 20 percent of Niue's force but Mr Vivian says they still have enough police on the island.

"We have enough policemen here. We have no problems with the population. Law and order is very good here, it is excellent."

Niue's contribution to RAMSI means that all Forum Island countries will have now sent personnel to Solomon Islands.
