Fiji's new bridge in Nausori will boost economy

The economy of Fiji's Nausori town near Suva is expected to get a major boost following the opening of the new 18-million US dollar European Union-funded Rewa Bridge yesterday.

The president of the Fiji Retailers Association, Himmat Lodhia has told the Fiji Times trade will increase and the business community and shoppers should be pleased.

Nausori mayor Vikash Singh says the town will be transformed with many new opportunities for development.

Meanwhile Airports Fiji Limited has announced plans to extend the runway at Nausori Airport by 345 metres to enable it to handle Boeing 737-800s and build a new terminal building.
