One of Samoa's ruling party election candidates, who was unsuccessful in this year's election, has been charged with two counts of assault.
Police laid charges against Selesele Tanielu, a matai and businessman of Satupa'itea constituency after an incident in a local bar, where he assaulted the wife of a senior Supreme Court judge.
The accused appeared in the District court yesterday but his case has been adjourned without a plea till Tuesday next week for his lawyer to complete legal documents.
