Fiji police are investigating an incident in which a man was attacked with a bamboo spear on the island of Taveuni last weekend.
The Fiji Times reports that the victim was drinking kava with friends at his home when the attack took place.
The attacker, with whom the man had had some differences, entered the house and started kicking and punching the victim before attacking him with a bamboo spear.
The attack nearly cost the victim one of his eyes and he is now in hospital.
The attacker is in custody but police are waiting for a medical report on the victim before laying charges.
