Further delays for Vanuatu police commissioner's job

7:37 pm on 26 June 2006

There have been further delays in the process to appoint a new Vanuatu police commissioner.

The acting police commissioner, Lt Col Arthur Caulton, had said he and two other senior police officers had been shortlisted and interviewed by a panel of four director generals.

A decision was expected to be made at the end of last month, but Lt Colonel Caulton says the panel has not revealed its decision yet.

"We have gone through the interview almost three weeks ago. At this stage I think the panel who did the interview is still yet to submit their recommendadition to the police services commission. I understand that the panel will be submitting to the sucessful candidate to the police services commission some time this week."
