7:34 pm on 7 December 2005

A senior Fiji police officer has left the intervention force in Solomon Islands to become the head of security at the Gold Ridge Mine.

Fiji TV reports that Romanu Tikotikoca has resigned from RAMSI suddenly and prematurely.

But the RAMSI Coordinator James Batley has told Solomons radio that Mr Tikotikoca had completed his term with RAMSI and what people do after their term is a private matter.

The Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation reports Mr Tikotikoca has served two consecutive tours under the regional intervention mission.
