American Samoa-based South Pacific Express (SPEX) Inc, is set to launch inter-Samoa flights next month after approval was granted last week by the Federal Aviation Administration.
The approval came at least two months after the FAA certified the carrier's aircraft for air worthiness, which means the aircraft it fit to carry passenger and cargo.
SPEX's chairman, Avamua Dave Haleck said approval was issued November 17th after a successful inspection by three members of the FAA team.
Mr Haleck credits the hard work and dedication of its employees in Pago Pago and Samoa for accomplishing this task.
He says the company is now awaiting landing rights approval from the Samoa government to start flying scheduled passengers between the two Samoas, set for early December.
SPEX flights will initially be operated by their partner, Guam-based Aviation Services Ltd, using a US registered Shorts 360, turbo prop twin-engine aircraft.
