The government of Tuvalu has expressed its concern about Air Fiji's purchase of a 60-seat Chinese plane, saying the plane is not internationally certified.
Tuvalu's tranpsort minister, Saufatu Sopoanga, raised his views on the Xian MA60 airplane with Air Fiji which services Tuvalu.
Mr Sopoanga says a trial period should be given for the aircraft to prove itself.
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Fiji Islands says it is getting experts to review the design and manufacturing process of the aircraft.
The Authority's chief executive officer, Norman Yee, says it may need to get a certificate from the Chinese authorities.
