Papua New Guinea's national court has granted Air Niugini another four weeks to operate its aircraft not fitted with new safety devices required by International Aviation Association rules.
The National reports that the court extended until August 24th, the order that was granted last week.
Air Niugini went to court to avoid grounding its F28 and F100 aircraft which do not have the terrain avoidance warning system.
The device was to be fitted on all aircraft with a capacity for 30 or more passengers by July 1st.
Air Niugini had said the device would be fitted on the aircraft later than the deadline, and had asked for exemption.
The Civil Aviation Authority, the CAA, initially granted the exemption, but later revoked it, prompting the national carrier to go to court.
The CAA has now given its consent for the four week extension.
