Tonga lawmakers suspended for disrupting parliament

The speaker of Tonga's Legislative Assembly, the Honorary Tu'i Vakano, has temporarily suspended two people's representatives to the house.

Akilisi Pohiva, the Tongatapu people's number one representative, and Etuate Lavulavu, the Vava'u people's number two, have been suspended for one and a half days and three days respectively for disrupting the proceedings of the full committee house.

The two MPs were suspended under section 69 of the Rules for Proceedings and Standing Orders and Duties of the Legislative Assembly of Tonga.
