The Catholic Archbishop of Solomon Islands, Adrian Smith, has warned of an explosive situation n North Malaita.
Archbishop Smith says it is urgent to deal with the growing friction caused by the return of thousands of Malaitans forced out of their homes on Guadalcanal by the ethnic unrest.
"There is also the disappointment of people who have been away from home for a long time, traditionally they should have returned with some kind of wealth to re-instate themselves-they came home empty handed - driven out with nothing. So the community to welcome them - it was very difficult, so it is very urgent to address thme because they are displaced, as it were, in their own society"
