Samoa's FM radio giant, Radio Polynesia, has applied to the Government for a licence for a satellite television station and a free-to-air station.
The Government is poised to sell off its television and radio assets within a year.
A spokesman for Radio Polynesia, Corey Keil, says that after conquering the FM radio market with four different stations, the company needed a new challenge.
He says he has every confidence their application - lodged several weeks ago, will succeed.
"The outgoing government has been very supportive of this privatisation move, so we feel it is only a metter of time before they give us the nod."
Government officials say both media - operating under the Samoa Broadcasting Corporation - will be restructured before any sale takes place.
