The Constitutional Commission on the Papua New Guinea island of Bougainville is starting work on the third draft of the province's constitution,

It comes after the second draft was held up for nearly a year while PNG Government officials tackled legal queries the document had raised.

There are hopes that the next stage will be over within a couple of months, when as Bougainville Congress leader, Joseph Kabui, says, the Constituent Assembly will meet.

"As soon as the BCC finsihes its job, then we will now present our report to the Bougainville Constituent Assembly. We believe it si going to be around June or July."

Joseph Kabui says everyone remains committed to having the province's first autonomous election before the end of the year.
