The premier of Niue, Young Vivian, who is currently in New Zealand, says he is extremely worried about the impact Cyclone Heta is having on the island.

Mr Vivian says people have protected their homes as best they can, but there is little they can do to protect crops, which are the country's economic backbone.

"The cash crops like the vanilla, the lime trees, taros, coconuts, that will be really bad for the area and the people of Niue and I'm really worried"
