Public employees in Solomons still pushing pay claim at Trade Dispute Panel

The Trade Disputes Panel in the Solomon Islands is again in session to hear a dispute between the government and public servants over pay increases.

This follows the public employees trade union demanding the government meet a 5 percent pay increase and 20 percent cost of living allowance.

The unions claim the last time the government awarded a pay rise was in 1995.

But the government has said it is not in a financial position to grant salary rises.
