Crew strike delays Air France flight in Tahiti

5:00 pm on 25 November 2003

A strike by Tahiti-based cabin staff of Air France has forced a delay of a Europe-bound flight and made it necessary for the airline to leave 60 passengers behind to take a later flight.

The strike was observed by almost all staff over concern about the future of the service.

The Tahitipresse news agency says the plane was late because there were not enough flight attendants to meet minimum requirements.

The plane took off three hours late after a French flight attendant was found among the passengers to join the crew.

But with only five flight attendants, the airline had to leave 60 passengers behind.
