Dive and snorkelling operators on Efate Island in Vanuatu say they're worried at the number of fish and coral being removed from reefs for commercial purposes.
It follows reports that the company, Sustainable Reef Supplies, has exported around a hundred thousand dollars worth of tropical fish and coral to its Miami parent company over the last eight months.
A ban on the collection and purchase of giant clams was imposed 2 years ago after 44 thousand were exported during the previous 10 years.
But fisheries department records show, despite the ban, around a hundred of the clams have still been removed.
