Another political court battle is looming in Fiji, this time between the National Federation Party's candidate in the Labasa by-election and the Labour Party.

The NFP candidate and Labasa mayor, Charan Jeath Singh, has taken out a full-page newspaper advertisement describing as gross lies and totally baseless allegations made by the Labour Party and its leader, Mahendra Chaudhry.

They have alleged that Mr Singh stopped government officials from distributing cyclone rations in the area early this year so people would be forced to buy from his supermarket.

Mr Singh has offered a cash reward of 2,500 US dollars to any person who can provide evidence that he had asked officials to stop the distribution of rations.
