The Solomon Islands Government has sacked eight permanent secretaries six weeks after appointing people to succeed them.
There had been local reports the outgoing secretaries would be retained on special projects but the Prime Minister's Office says this is not correct.
The Prime Minister, Sir Allen Kemakeza, has told the Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation that the officials were sacked for failing to meet government expectations.
The eight new secretaries, who include one of the Prime Minister's advisors, Edward Kingmele, began work yesterday (Tues).
