A senior Fiji government MP has attacked the Supreme Court ruling ordering the prime minister to form a multi-party cabinet.
The Leader of the House, Jonetani Kaukeimoce's comments came as parliament began debate on President Iloilo's address during the formal opening of parliament this week.
Mr Kaukeimoce questioned how much common sense there was in the judges' ruling that the multi-party obligations of the prime minister were not affected by the perceived policy differences between the SDL and the Labour Party.
He said the policy differences had a very large effect and it was surprising the judges could not understand this.
He said the differences were not perceived, they were real.
Mr Kaukeimoce also attacked the media's coverage of the Supreme Court ruling saying it was like propaganda.
He singled out Fiji TV saying it was Fiji's misfortune that the company had a monopoly and the sooner it was ended the better.
Mr Kaukeimoce also attacked the opposition leader, saying Mick Beddoes became part of the campaign against the SDL and will long be remembered for the nastiness, arrogance and abusive tone of an interview he gave on TV.
Mr Kaukeimoce then appealed to all MPs to maintain a spirit of goodwill and cooperation and work together.
