The North Pacific nation of Palau is reported to be planning to generate most of its energy using an Ocean Thermal Energy conversion system.
Japan's Kyodo news service says the Palau government wants to use a system developed by Japan's Saga University.
Thermal conversion utilizes the temperature difference between warm surface water and cold deep water to covert solar radiation into electric power.
Kyodo reports that Palau wants to stop using diesel power stations by 2015
