The strike by employees of Fiji's national airline, Air Pacific, will continue today after the labour minister, Kenneth Zinck, failed to get the two parties into talks yesterday.
Air Pacific chairman, Gerald Barrack, was at a board meeting when Mr Zinck and the secretary of the Fiji Aviation Workers Association, Attar Singh, turned up for conciliation talks in Suva yesterday.
Mr Zinck says the board of Air Pacific has asked that it be left to resolve its differences with the association this weekend without government intervention.
He says they have agreed to the request while expressing the government's concern that the strike is continuing.
Striking employees are picketing their work places as Air Pacific flights continue to experience delays and disruptions.
