The name Joni Mitchell conjures up so much. The whole Woodstock era; a singular voice and aesthetic; an approach to music-making that has led to quite a bit of hyperbole over the years.

New Zealand singer songwriter Julia Deans has been following the Joni Mitchell path for a couple of years now, performing her own interpretations at concerts around the country.

Now it's Wellington's turn, with Julia fronting up with her band to the New Zealand Festival for three performances.

From fronting Fur Patrol to the supergroup The Adults, Julia also has a voice that can move effortlessly from one sphere to another.
