Mickey Myers first met artist and activist Roman Catholic nun Sister Corita Kent when she was nine. That first interaction sparked a lifetime of mentorship, friendship and creativity. Mickey has continued Corita’s artistic legacy overseeing her estate and working with the Corita Art Centre to ensure the next generation get to enjoy Corita’s pop/hippie/protest movement artworks in all its glory.

Sister Corita’s Summer of Love is coming to City Gallery Described as a “Joyous Revolutionary” the Roman Catholic nun captured the civil rights movement, protests against the Vietnam War and condemns the assassinations of the American political leaders in her artwork. The exhibition is made up of 70 prints created during the swinging 60s until the late 70s.

The final four in the Lexus Song Quest was named on the weekend. Baritone Benson Wilson and bass baritone Tavis Gravatt, both from Auckland, tell Eva Radich about their road to the final, their repertoire and what advice judge Yvonne Kenny gave them.
