Cacti by leading Swedish choreographer Alexander Ekman is a gleeful parody of contemporary dance itself. Created for Nederlands Dans Theatre in 2010, Cacti is Ekman's most successful work and is being staged by Royal New Zealand Ballet as part of its Speed of Light National Tour which begins at New Zealand Festival later this month.

The NZSO Education manager Samantha Cockerill gives us the low down on the National Youth Orchestra annual summer music camp being held at Waikato University. Sam tells us about the responsibility of taking care of players from fourteen to twenty five for a week long intensive. The musical boot camp culminates in concerts in Hamilton and Tauranga this weekend.
