American-born Korean violinist Esther Yoo is happy to be travelling again. After several years of Covid layover, the 29-year-old has embarked on her first full season of touring since 2019, a tour which has brought her to Aotearoa for the first time.
Esther spoke with Bryan Crump about playing Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto with the NZSO in Napier. They also talked about one of her other pursuits: making YouTube and Instagram videos about everything from how to play ricochet passages in the Mendelssohn, to what she eats before concerts (bananas and dark chocolate - it's a potassium thing).
