This year’s Doc Edge Festival begins on 24 May in Auckland, and one of the films making its international premiere is Knowing the Score.
The film follows the career of Australian conductor Simone Young, a trailblazer who has broken barriers and conquered the most male-dominated profession of conducting opera and classical music.
Bryan Crump recently caught up with the film’s director, Janine Hosking. He began by asking when the idea of making a documentary on Simone Young first occurred to her.
Knowing the Score screens in Auckland on 4 June, Wellington on 18 June and is available to stream on Doc Edge Virtual Cinema between 19 June and July 9.
