Salina FISHER: Coastlines
Salina Fisher explains that "following months of constant stimulation in New York City, the time I spent at Waikanae Beach during a brief visit back to New Zealand felt completely surreal."
Her piece Coastlines reflects on this dream-like re-acquaintance with the expansive Kāpiti Coast, particularly its shifting light and hypnotic tides.
Bridget Douglas (flute), Patrick Barry (clarinet), Carolyn Mills (harp), Donald Armstrong & Malavika Gopal (violins), Lyndsay Mountfort (viola), Ken Ichinose (cello)
Coastlines was commissioned by the Waikanae Music Society to mark its 40th Anniversary and is scored for the same combination of instruments as Ravel's Introduction and Allegro - flute, clarinet, harp and string quartet.
