The Auckland-based contemporary music ensemble 175 East is in a performing hiatus at the moment, but this year they've released some oldish recordings of their performances of a couple of works by British composer Michael Finnissy.
The recordings are available as downloads from the group's Bandcamp site. And they've also been released on a beautifully-produced vinyl LP complete with information-rich booklet.
The past and present music directors of 175 East, James Gardner and Samuel Holloway, talk to Tim Dodd about the project and the first of these works, Finnissy's Piano Concerto No 3, which features pianist Mark Knoop.
