Jennifer Higdon's Violin Concerto won the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Music last week. The work was written specifically for soloist Hilary Hahn. Eva Radich talked to Hahn on Upbeat last week about the work. (RNZ)

New Zealand composer Chris Adams was born on 20 April 1979. He is the current Mozart Fellow at the University of Otago, and was last year's Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra Composer-in-Residence.

American percussionist, bandleader and composer Ernesto Antonio Puente Jr, aka Tito Puente was born in New York City on 20 April 1923, and became famous for bringing Latin and Afro-Cuban rhythms to a wider world audience. By his death in 2000 he had recorded over 100 albums.
