This APO concert opens with baroque music re-imagined by the mind of Stravinsky in his Pulcinella Suite.

Then the ancient Chinese instrument, the pipa, is filtered through an American lens in Lou Harrison's Pipa Concerto with renowned pipa virtuoso Wu Man taking the solo.

Shostakovich weaves a new fabric from the influential threads of many musical greats to create his First Symphony.

Conducting it all is Tung-Chieh Chuang on his first visit to the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra.
