Fazioli International Piano Recital Series 2018: Read Gainsford & Orchestra Wellington: Planets

3.00pm Fazioli International Piano Recital Series 2018

In a beautifully curated programme, Read Gainsford introduces and performs music that links to Impressionism in some way, but is not impressionistic in itself.

Read Gainsford is a New Zealand pianist currently based in Tallahassee, where he’s Professor of Piano and Coordinator of Keyboard Studies at Florida State University.

He eloquently introduces each of the works in this recital.

8.00pm Orchestra Wellington: Planets

Orchestra Wellington offers a multi-media extravaganza with one of the grandest and most popular works in the orchestral repertoire - The Planets - preceded by not one but two premières from New Zealand composers.
