3.00pm Fazioli International Piano Recital Series: Jun Bouterey-Ishido

Christchurch-born Jun Bouterey Ishido plays a recital of Mozart, Ravel and Bartok in the Auckland Museum Auditorium.

8.00pm APO: Denounced

In a concert recorded in November 2016, the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra plays a programme featuring music by composers in conflict with authority.

In Finlandia, Sibelius channelled the burgeoning patriotism of his countrymen against Russian occupiers. Then its Bartok's 3rd Piano Concerto written in the States after his political views forced the composer from Hungary. Spanish pianist, Javier Perianes is the soloist.

And finally, the 11th Symphony of Shostakovich 'The Year 1905' – a work that divides scholars over its true program.
