The biennial Michael Hill International Violin Competition is one of New Zealand’s most prestigious music competitions and one of the most sought-after violin competitions in the world.

The 2017 competition began in Queenstown over Queen's Birthday weekend in June, before moving to the Auckland Town Hall.

This round features Violinists Kunwha Li, Benjamin Baker and Luke Hsu who each play a quintet with Justine Cormack (violin), Julia Joyce and Gillian Ansell (violas), Ashley Brown (cello).
