Bach Cantata Vespers commemorating the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation (1517-2017)

On 31 October 1517 - Reformation Day - Dr Martin Luther nailed his 'Ninety-five theses on the power and efficacy of Indulgences' to the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany. And so began the Protestant Reformation.

Throughout 2017, the Lutheran Church of New Zealand marked the 500th anniversary in various ways including this Vespers Service featuring the music of JS Bach. Lutheran Cantor Rick Erickson came from the USA to lead the Choir of Wellington Cathedral of St Paul, the Chiesa Ensemble and soloists. The Presiding Minister is Bishop Mark Whitfield.
