In tonight’s Music Alive we have two divas of a different kind: Anika Moa and Julia Deans. They emerged in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Julia with Fur Patrol, and Anika with her fast rise to stardom after a brief stint with the Warner and Atlantic record labels.

Julia has won Best Female Vocalist at the New Zealand Music Awards in 2001 alongside a whole host of awards for her iconic song with Fur Patrol “Lydia”.

Anika has taken away Top Female vocalist and Songwriter of the Year in 2002 as well as Best Female Solo Artist in 2008 & 2010 at the NZ Music Awards.

Tonight they undertake a unique night in their careers with a full orchestral concert at Auckland’s Town Hall, courtesy of the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra and their conductor for the evening, Hamish McKeich.
