Ata Reira is a choral celebration of light. Members of the NZ Youth Choir, Voices NZ, Kristin School's Euphony and James Tibbles join forces to perform Bob Chilcott's Canticles of Light. This three-movement work first asks for protection from the night, and then concludes with a song for the morning that looks forward to a new beginning.
Other works include Whitacre's Lux Aurumque, Schafer's Epitaph for Moonlight, settings of O nata lux by Tallis and Lauridsen and a choral setting of Elgar's Nimrod with the text lux aeterna.
The Choirs are also proud to present Waerenga-a-Hika, a newly commissioned work in Te Reo Māori composed by Tuirina Wehi.
