The King’s Singers – Great American Songbook
David Hurley, Timothy Wayne-Wright (countertenors), Paul Phoenix (tenor), Christopher Bruerton, Christopher Gabbitas (baritones), Jonathan Howard (bass)
Last year, the King’s Singers brought their Great American Songbook concert to New Zealand. The programme celebrates writers like the Gershwin brothers, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, Oscar Hammerstein II and Irving Berlin. The King’s Singers have been going continuously since 1968, originally formed from singers at King’s College, Cambridge. All the original members have long since retired, but the current senior member of the group, First Countertenor David Hurley sang with two of the former singers when he first joined, and baritone Chris Bruerton is a New Zealander.
This concert was recorded live in 2014 at the Auckland Town Hall by RNZ Concert
