What I cover: I'm currently the RNZ Explainer Editor, covering in-depth a wide variety of subjects from politics, current events, science, health and much more to help give our readers more detail on important topics. I'm also a general digital journalist who has covered everything from breaking news to world news analysis to entertainment.
Background: I'm an American who moved to New Zealand in 2006 and now am a dual citizen. I've got more than 30 years of journalism experience, worked for publications in California, New York, Mississippi and Oregon and won multiple awards for my reporting and essays. Since moving to New Zealand, I've written for the New Zealand Herald, NZ Listener, Stuff, The Spinoff and also worked on a wide variety of Australian publications. I'm also a freelance writer for the Australian Associated Press FactCheck and in my spare time I do pop-culture writing on my website and am a hobby comic book writer and artist.
