In its latest surveillance report, the country's health ministry says the dengue-like illness count remains high.

Samoans are not yet eligible to apply for Australia's new visa category that allows skilled workers and their families to apply for permanent residence.

The two-year initiative is set to support 12,000 people in disaster-prone communities in Fiji, Tonga, and Samoa.

All eligible Samoan students will be fully funded, in an effort to meet current doctor shortages.

There were 82 new cases were reported in Samoa in the two weeks to 14 April.

The health chief has confirmed about 80 people have been affected by the mosquite-borne disease and number of cases are going up.
