Keep going mix by Corin Dann

Morning Report's Corin Dann shares the songs that kept him going throughout 2020: "These are the songs that I’ll turn to when I sit around with my brother and sister and their families over Christmas taking turns to play tunes. Assuming we can get the stereo out of the hands of the teens."

01
Get the Devil Out Nadia Reid

My go to lockdown record

02
Scott Street Phoebe Bridges

I love all her stuff, even the really grim stuff — but this song is dear to my heart as was on high rotate during family crisis.

03
When Gods Lie Reb Fountain

Another solid lockdown discovery.

04
Woodstock Joni Mitchell

Re-inspired by Sampler review Of her vault recordings — so much fun going through her old stuff

05
Strangest Thing live The War on Drugs

I love this band and was stoked to see a live album — translates well with great solos!

06
Jara (Shore) Fleet Foxes

This started off as a slow burner — but possibly my favourite record of the year. Great return to form after patchy last effort — this song is glorious.

07
Guess I’m Doing Fine Beck

From Sea Change — my favourite Beck album. I never tire of Sea Change and this is my favourite of a great bunch of songs. Perfect chill out slow down stuff.

08
Codex Radiohead

Radiohead’s later records don’t seem date and always have hidden gems. This is stunning, excellent for listening on moody Wellington dog walks in the hills.

09
33 GOD Bon Iver

Always a go to artists for me — this song got its claws into me whilst on a overseas holiday with family and brings a smile every time.

10
Statesboro Blues Allman Brothers

Love big guitar jams in summer and these guys do it best.

11
Don’t do it (live) The Band

Ditto with Allman Brothers — great for chilling in the garden in summer.

12
Can’t You Hear Me Knocking Rolling Stones

The swagger of this song is always fun.

13
Down by the River Neil Young

Love Neil and this song captures his great wonderful rambling guitar solo’s best for me — it has a great groove and is excellent for parties!

14
Love Sick Bob Dylan

Always fun getting into a Dylan record that I’ve missed — have loved delving further into his later stuff.

15
Four of Five Arctic Monkeys

My 16 year helped me push through my initial weariness with this record — but I ended up loving it — awesome lyrics as usual.

16
Kindergarten Faith No More

I do love the heavier stuff and this old 90s classic has re-emerged on my play list this year! Super satisfying.

17
Jump Rope Gazers The Beths

Instant Kiwi anthem! Puts smile on face.

18
Natural Mystic Bob Marley

You gotta have some Marley on a summer listening rotate — first few chords of this song gets me every time.

19
Mighty Invader Troy Kingi

Great Kiwi reggae to add to the list of any good playlist.
