Enjoy all the elegance and grandeur of an evening out in 17th-century Europe with NZSO Extravaganza. This concert features courtly music by some of the most masterful baroque composers, including Marc Antoine Charpentier, Pietro Locatelli and Jean-Baptiste Lully.

The 150-year time-span between 1600-1750, known as the baroque period, was a time of transition between the Renaissance and the Classical era. Music moved away from the complex vocal polyphony of Renaissance singing, with its multiple, equal voices towards the idea of monody – one important voice, supported by harmony.

The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra is conducted by Vesa-Matti Leppännen.

Producer/Sound Engineer: Darryl Stack
