Widescreen’s online viewing picks of the week (w/b 16 November)

The best* online video we’ve been watching over the last seven days.

 

A couple of weeks ago, we reviewed Guillermo Del Toro’s Crimson Peak. The film seems to have inspired plenty of people (not least GDT himself) to dig into the origins and inspiration for this particular brand of gothic horror:

 

Film fans can’t get enough of material about Paul Thomas Anderson (aka PTA), director of Boogie Nights, There Will Be Blood, The Master and Inherent Vice. This video from Raccord Collective is the latest in their Directors Series and is the first part of an extensive survey of Anderson’s career starting with his college years and his Sundance breakout Hard Eight:

 

We love videos that encourage us to look at the visuals of a film a little deeper and here's an introduction to aspect ratios from Now You See It (via @OnePerfectShot):

 

Finally, the Star Wars video you’ve all been waiting for – Donny and Marie Osmond’s jaw-dropping take on Luke, Leia, Vader, etc. (featuring cameos from Kris Kristofferson, Redd Foxx and Paul Lynde):
